Something Simple
About this whole net neutrality thing….There must be a way for the net to lead to a TV revolution yet allow the net we know and love to continue. don’t get me wrong, I’m no corporate loving capitalist whore looking for improved ways to generate large amounts of cash. I understand the worries out there, that the net will turn into another corporate and government controlled one way medium. But, there are some things that will just happen whether we want them to or not and no amount of action is going to stick. In this debate, I am willing to see a compromise argued. We pay for cable TV, we pay for the Internet….we pay for our phone…..all these services are going to merge into one. It’s going to happen. The question is…… how do we want it to end up? Corporations need to monetise through adds or subscriptions…… I put it to you that you will pay for your subscription and you will allow your self to be hit by adds…..we do it now. I for one would be happy to see the medium of TV to evolve in become a two way interaction collaborative experience..on my wall, in my hand………..

I am currently a consumer who enjoys an optus plan which merges phone with internet, and I would be open to the idea of cable becoming involved, as far as commercials go I cant see much difference between sitting through 3minutes of brand advertising or cable programme promotion.

I really hope that when the corps take over the Internet that they understand how it is different from static medias and that they allow it to continue to grow in the same direction.
